Since October 2017, Marcel is responsible for the development of projects related to the role of Vopak in the Energy Transition. In this entrepreneurial role he combines understanding of technology developments, connecting with future partners and developing stakeholder management to identify future supply chains and let Vopak become part of new solutions to decarbonize the industry.

From September 2018, Marcel combined above role with the responsibility of Commercial and Business Development Director for the region Europe & Africa.

Marcel joint Vopak in 1995 as a Management Trainee after graduating as Master of Science at Delft University of Technology. Over the years Marcel has worked in different senior management positions in the Netherlands, France and South Africa. Starting in the operational/technical/safety area, developing in General management positions and during the last years being active in strategic commercial roles.

With significant experience in line management as Terminal Manager of the Europoort Terminal and Managing Director in South Africa together with the strategic insights he built over the years of being a Global Account Director and Commercial Director, Marcel can identify opportunities, build bridges and realize new businesses.
