MISSOULA, Mont. — Butte law enforcement officials are investigating an explosion that left one man dead and another man seriously injured Monday afternoon.
Sheriff Ed Lester said in a news release that the explosion happened at the Silver Bow Truck and Auto Center around 4:10 p.m.
The two men had been working on an oil storage tank when the explosion happened.
The victims’ names have not been released.

At approximately 4:10 PM, Butte emergency dispatch received a call reporting an explosion at 3873 Wynne Avenue. The business at that location is Silver Bow Truck and Auto Center.
Butte Police, Butte Fire Rescue, and A-1 Ambulance responded to the scene. Two adult males had been working on an oil storage tank when the explosion occurred. One male was pronounced dead at the scene. A second male was transported from the scene with serious injuries.
Investigators from Butte Fire, Butte Police, and the Butte-Silver Bow Coroners office are at the scene.
Names of the males involved are being withheld pending notification of relatives.
The incident remains under investigation and further information will be released when it becomes available.
