Government Proposes Correction Factor for Green Hydrogen: Industry Raises Concerns
- 22/11/2024
The Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management has unveiled plans to introduce a correction factor for green hydrogen, a move described by industry leaders as a “draconian measure.”
This development comes as the government and the industry collaborate on the refinery route, aiming to replace grey hydrogen with green hydrogen to drive sustainability. However, the proposed correction factor has sparked significant debate.
Jan-Willem van den Beukel, Director of VEMOBIN, highlighted the potential impact in De Telegraaf: “This correction effectively means that the value of green hydrogen produced will be more than halved, while the costs of building installations and producing hydrogen remain unchanged.”
The proposal raises questions about the economic feasibility of green hydrogen and its role in achieving sustainability goals. Stay tuned for further updates as discussions between the government and industry continue.
