One show, 20 years & millions of deals made onsite

It’s 2005. It’s snowing outside and the first ever StocExpo is taking place in Rotterdam. Key speakers include Kaneb Terminals, FETSA, Baltic Storage and Odfjell Terminals  – some of which no longer exist, but many which have stood the test of time.

From this point forward, a community of European and international tank storage professionals was born. Over the past 20 years StocExpo has grown from a launch event in year one to a hub of the tank storage and energy infrastructure sector in 2025.

This year, we celebrate our 20th edition alongside our official publication Tank Storage Magazine, which was also launched at the same time.

To commemorate the occasion the StocExpo and Tank Storage team are going on a road trip to visit many of our loyal exhibitors and visitors who have supported the show over the years including the likes of CTS, Toptech, Protego, HMT, Scully, Endress+Hauser, Emerson Loadtec and many more.

Earlier this month, StocExpo’s portfolio director Margaret Dunn, who has also been with the show almost from the very beginning, went to visit Belven at their offices in Mechelen, Belgium.

Belven is also celebrating 50 years of valves production this year and Philippe Wauters, General Sales Manager at Belven, was pleased to share his experiences over the years.

“StocExpo has had a long lasting impact on Belven over the years,” he explains.  A couple of years ago we were able to finalise an approximately €2 million deal with an important customer during StocExpo – this is something you don’t forget in a hurry!”

In the full interview Wauters talks about how StocExpo provides a unique meeting place to network with all the players within the tank storage sector and how he feels the industry has evolved over the years.

“Looking to the next 20 years we expect the industry to evolve further, especially with the increase in demand for new fuels such as ammonia and hydrogen,” he explains.

“As well as meeting new customers, StocExpo is also a great opportunity to get feedback from potential customers on how we can evolve our products to suit their future requirements.”

Make sure you follow StocExpo on social media to view the full interview and others within the series. And save the date on 11-12 March to celebrate 20 years of StocExpo with Belven and the event team!
