AeroDelft is a student team with one mission: to prove and promote liquid hydrogen as a sustainable alternative to conventional aviation fuels.
With our Project Phoenix, we aim to be the first student team to ever fly on liquid hydrogen by retrofitting our full scale Sling 4 with a hydrogen-electric powertrain. After successful taxiing, the sights are first set on a flight on gaseous hydrogen, which will be soon followed by Phoenix’s maiden flight on liquid hydrogen.
Our mission being two-fold, the promotion aspect is also very much core to our work, as we bring together partners from industry, academia, governments and students to work on the future of aviation, while also informing the general public about this revolution that needs to happen and what is being done to achieve it.
