Organic Solvent Nanofiltration (OSN) and Pervaporation are the two technologies, provided by BORSIG Membrane Technology GmbH, where solvent stable membranes are applied to cover the sustainable needs in the industry.
OSN
BORSIG Membrane Technology GmbH has developed new solvent-resistant polymer membranes which are now industrially available having already proved their performance in industrial reference installations.
These BORSIG OSN membranes offer new and sophisticated liquid separation or fractionating processes for the treatment of organic mixtures and solvent-based production streams and come along with exceptional properties and benefits such as moderate operation conditions (T, p), low energy consumption in comparison to thermal processes, no degradation of temperature sensitive natural compounds (low temperatures), improved product quality and yield to name a few.
OSN applications:
– Concentration of higher molecular components
– Hydrocarbon polishing
Pervaporation
The BORSIG Pervaporation Unit is using polymeric membranes with an affinity to water or methanol, which are independent on the vapor/liquid equilibrium.
Typical applications are the dehydration of ethanol, bioethanol, isopropanol (IPA), organic solvent and a lot more.
Depending on the customer needs and the feed conditions and composition, either a stand-alone unit or a hybrid system can be the optimum solution.
