Ferrous protection has recently completed a project on a major road bridge in Taunton which will future proof it for years to come.
The Grade II-listed Town Bridge carries the A3027 over the River Tone into the town centre. We have grit blasted it to remove the old paint system and applied a 3-coat paint system which consisted of intricate colour scheme to bring the bridge back to life and protect it for years to come.
Refurbishment works on the structure of the bridge, which dates from the 19th Century, have been taking place over the last few months.
Some aspects of the original bridge that was built in 1895, for instance the parapets and cast-iron work, are from that era, so parts of the bridge have spanned three centuries.
Ferrous Protection’s Director of Operations Steven Slack said…
“The team have done a brilliant job on this project, It’s amazing to think that a bridge which was built in the 1800’s is still here today, and, in the condition it is in, it did require some steel repairs to bring it back to life and it is amazing to still see it standing and that it is still the main bridge in Taunton. It’s an iconic listed structure and Ferrous Protection are proud to have played a major part in its refurbishment”
